The Simpsons 500th Episode – animation perfection with Toon Boom technology

Kowabunga! It’s the 500th episode of The Simpsons on Sunday, 19 February 2012!

As you may or may not know, the ground-breaking epic series uses Toon Boom technology to bring it to the screen.

The first episode of The Simpsons ran on December 17, 1989 following on its success as a series of shorts on the Tracey Ullmann Show.  The original idea for the dysfunctional family was the brain-child of Matt Groening (who received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on 14, February 2012).  The Simpsons  was voted the “Best Show of the 20th Century” by Time Magazine, and i’m sure you are all familiar with Bart’s catch-phrase “Eat My Shorts!” and the “D’Oh!”of Homer.

Toon Boom’s connection with The Simpsons began around five years ago and continues to this day, with each episode making use of our technology.  We even had a hand in Simpsons The Movie, released to worldwide audiences in 2007.

Best Wishes and Congratulations to the entire cast and crew of The Simpsons. And like the millions of fans around the world, we are looking forward to another 500 episodes!

The Simpsons 500th episode broadcasts on Sunday, February 19 at 8PM ET/PT on FOX.
