Watch the video and find out more about our educational currulum

In April 2012, Toon Boom Animation was chosen to be featured on the In View with Larry King – Focus on 21st Century Education show. To reinforce the success of our educational software and curriculum we decided to focus on Bluffton Elementary School in South Carolina where our programs were already in use.  You can see the complete program on the Discovery Channel January 28, 2013 at 7am EST and PST.

Bluffton Elementary School SC USA

Bluffton Elementary was selected by Toon Boom because the school principal Christine Brown, animation teacher Celia Stokes, and her staff had successfully improved student grades, attendance and interaction by using animation to teach and engage students in core subjects such as maths, language and science. The students are so enthusiastic in using animation to learn with that they actually want to attend classes. As Ashby, a student at Bluffton said, “Every Thursday I wake up and am so excited because I get to have animation!”  he continues..”It helps [me] to understand the thing we are learning a lot easier”.

The results of their using Toon Boom Animation’s Flip Boom animation software and the accompanying educational curriculum are astounding. Students engage with the programming and are very creative in their output. They are happier, more focused, interact more with teachers and classmates, and want to attend class. But the big reward is in their grades, on average the students have seen a 15% increase in their academic scores. This is a win-win situation, as not only do the students benefit, but many schools depend on their overall academic success to obtain higher levels of funding.

Over the past four years Bluffton Elementary has used Toon Boom Animation’s Flip Boom animation software and the accompanying curriculum as a method of teaching which until recently was not recognised as a formal tool for studying core subjects such as maths, reading and social studies.

The success of using animation as an educational tool is now recognised as a leading method to engage students and produce academic success even with students who were previously unable to focus in the classroom.
