Drug Trafficking is a very serious problem and the law enforcement consequences for those who are caught are severe. Full Circle Animation Studios based in Trinidad got involved in a public awareness campaign when locally based Non-governmental organisation Eye On Dependancy asked the studio to create some anti Drug Trafficking PSA’s.
Full Circle Animation Studio used Toon Boom Harmony to create two short but hard-hitting animations, Cheerio and Sherry’s Call. Both deal with the cold harsh reality of a convicted youth having to call their parent from prison in the UK. In the short animation Cheerio, a young man, Brian, calls his father and tells him that he has been sentenced to seven years, his father wishes him well and abandons him to his fate to serve out his time alone.
In the short Sherry’s Call, a teen Sherry calls her mother to tell her she is serving a 3 year prison sentence for drug trafficking. In the epilogue to the animation, we find out that Sherry’s sentence has even more tragic consequences, as she not only loses custody of her 3 year old daughter but her mother dies too.
Full Circle animation studio was established in 2005. In her recent visit to the studio Toon Boom Animation CEO and President, Joan Vogelesang, expressed how impressed she was with the progress of the studio the team and most importantly the quality of the work that was coming out. “I was very pleased to see how well the studio is organized and the quality it is able to deliver. Full Circle is certainly ready to undertake international projects and act as a reliable outsource partner,” commented Ms. Vogelesang.
